Stephan Rügamer studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Lübeck, completing his studies with James Wagner. 1996 - 1998 engage- ment at the Lübeck Theatre where he had the opportunity to sing the main roles of the lyric tenor's repertoire. Since 1999 Stephan Rügamer has been a member of the Berlin State Opera  ensemble, engaged by Daniel Barenboim. Under his musical direction he has sung David in the new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and later Froh in Das Rheingold, Steuermann / Der fliegende Holländer and Erik during a visit of the Berlin State Opera to Madrid / Teatro Real. Other roles: Chevalier / Der ferne Klang, Boris / Katya Kabanová, Shuysky / Boris Godunov. Mr. Rügamer has appeared as a guest artist at the opera houses in Frankfurt and Essen as well as at the Dresden, Hamburg, Munich and Stuttgart State Operas, at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris as Matteo in a new production of Arabella. Further performances in- clude Boris / Katya Kabanová at the Teatro Real Madrid, followed by Tannhäuser / Walther von der Vogelweide (Jesús López Cobos), Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Prokofiev: The Gambler / Marquis and Barcelona, Teatre del Liceu. Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Das Rhein- gold / Loge under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim and the same role in St. Petersburg, Festival of the White Nights with Valery Gergiev. Revival of Das Rheingold / Loge (Berlin State Opera and Teatro alla Scala di Milano). 2017: debuts at the Opéra National de Paris and the Grand Théâtre de Genève (role debut Wozzeck / Hauptmann). Guest appearances at the Bregenz and Salzburg Festivals. Concert engagements inter alia with: Staatskapelle Berlin (Daniel Barenboim and Fabio Luisi), Bavarian Radio Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra (Pierre Boulez), Radio France, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada (Sebastian Weigle), WDR Cologne, Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi Milano, Czech Philharmonic Prague, New Japan Philharmonic, Tokyo, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (Ingo Metzmacher, Königskinder / concert version), Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (Zubin Mehta, Die  Fledermaus / Eisenstein, 2014) and NDR Symphony Orchestra (Dallapiccola: Il Prigioniero, 2016).
