The young Greek tenor Sotiris Charalampous received his musical educa-
tion at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, vocal studies with
Anna Korondi, finishing his studies with the Bachelor degree in 2019. He
received important musical impulses from Julia Varady, Robert Dean Smith
and Wolfram Rieger.
Within his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler he sang for the
first time on an opera stage Lensky / Eugen Onegin. The artist’s repertoire
includes roles like Don Ottavio / Don Giovanni, Tanzmeister / Ariadne auf
Naxos, Ecclitico / Il mondo della luna, Eisenstein / Die Fledermaus and also
the contemporary works, such as Krenek’s Der Diktator / Offizier and Britten’s
Curlew River / Madwoman. On the concert platform he could be heard in
Bach’s Johannespassion / Evangelist and Magnificat / tenor solo.
Sotiris Charalampous’s first engagements at major opera houses are at the
Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, singing Fischer in Peter Eötvös’s Sleep-
less (2023) and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg /
Lehrbube, 2023). The Brandenburger Theater engaged the artist for several
roles, inter alia Tamino / Die Zauberflöte, Leopold Brandmeyer / Im Weißen
Rössel, Aegisth / Elektra and Alfredo / La Traviata (debut in 2024).
