The German Mezzo-Soprano Katharina Kammerloher was born in Munich.
After completing her oboe studies, she continued her musical education
studying voice in Detmold with Mechthild Böhme. The artist is also a
prize-winner of several international singing competitions.
Engaged by Daniel Barenboim in 1993, Katharina Kammerloher has been
a regular member of the Berlin State Opera ever since. There she inter-
prets inter alia roles like Ottavia / L’incoronazione di Poppea, Komponist /
Ariadne auf Naxos, Marcellina / Le nozze di Figaro, Geneviève / Pelléas
et Mélisande, 2. Dame / Die Zauberflöte (she sang this role also at the
Salzburg Festival), Magdalena / Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (this role
as well as Octavian / Der Rosenkavalier she sang also at the Bavarian
State Opera Munich), Suzuki / Madame Butterfly, Meg Page / Falstaff.
Internationally Katharina Kammerloher has appeared at the Salzburg Fes-
tival, the Munich Opera Festival and the Jerusalem International Chamber
Music Festival. She disposes also of a comprehensive concert repertoire.
Concert engagements include among others appearances with leading
symphony orchestras in London, Edinburgh, Budapest, Leipzig, Berlin,
Chicago, Torino under so distinguished conductors like Daniel Barenboim,
Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Gustavo Dudamel, Iván Fischer, Michael
Gielen, René Jacobs, Philippe Jordan, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Kent
Nagano, Antonio Pappano, Simone Young and stage directors like Ruth
Berghaus, Patrice Chéreau, Doris Dörrie, Dieter Dorn, Jürgen Flimm,
Harry Kupfer, Hans Neuenfels.
